THE WISDOM KEEPERS POT

In Bantu tradition/oral story telling, each member of the community would offer something to a communal “pot”. This pot would either be shared equally in the moment, or be given , in a cycle, to one member of the community. This could be literal, —each member bringing whatever vegetable, meat, herb or oil they had to contribute— or this could have been contributions to a project or goal the community shared

Our First Featured Wisdom Keeper—Müïhaki

Mūīhaki, Mūceera wa Ngūinī — Bantu Wisdom Keeper, Writer, Teacher, Auntie.
Mūīhaki is a beekeeper and indigenous wisdom keeper of bantu //a gikūyū knoweldge, stories, history, and language based and from Nyeri Kenya. They are a teacher, student, proud auntie, and fierce friend. You will usually find them munching on watermelon, scolding the resident turkey on the farm —George—, and thinking about their many nieces and nephews (blood family and chosen). Mūīhaki has been life altering for their immediate community, their students, and their family. Their favorite student (who happens to be writing this now—so much love to you mwaki), couldn’t imagine a better choice for our the recipient of our first Wisdom Keeper Pot, a Mutual Aid Project integral to Kanyamü. Starting three weeks ago, Mūīhaki is the primary financial and emotional support of their sister and nieces, as they transition out of an extremely abusive family, including school tuition, food, and medical expenses. We want Mūīhaki, and her niece, to lack nothing. Read more below to see how you can support, through our shop, or directly.

Our Goal- $999

$999/$999 raised (by you!) so far.
In order to fully support Mūīhaki, in their work, their goals, and their life, we will be giving 1/3 of KANYAMÜ’s profit to our Mutual Aid Pot for Mūīhaki. This amount will go directly to a year of rent, food, school fees, medical supplies, and essentials for them and their family. Read more below.

What will Mūīhaki use this for?

1/3

Our values. Displayed in practice. Every time your purchase a piece from KANYAMÜ, 1/3 of our profit goes to our Wisdom Keeper Pot. If you’d like to support additionally or directly, follow the link below for more information.

How can I give offering to the pot?

Buy KANYAMÜ — Give kanyamü.

1/3 of the revenue of your purchase goes to Mūīhaki’s Wisdom Keepers Mutual Aid Fund. KANYAMÜ has added $200+ to the pot through this method.
